National Leadership Development Programs for Doctors

The Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) maintains a document that lists National Leadership Development Programs. This list includes programs developed by medical schools, specialty societies, business schools, private organizations, and other groups. Some of these leadership programs are specifically geared for women while others focus on a target audience of specialists. You can find the latest AAMC list here (PDF).

Medical School Faculty Salaries 2010-2011

How much does the average medical school faculty make? The Association of American Medical Colleges recently released a publication titled, "Report on Medical School Faculty Salaries 2010-2011." This report is $409.00. I didn't purchase the report, so here's a summary from Modern Physician:

The average physician working as a clinical faculty member at a U.S. medical school made a total of $262,400 in the 2010-11 academic year—an increase of 2.9% over the previous year, according to a new report from the Association of American Medical Colleges.

Almost 59,000 U.S. physicians serve as clinical faculty members, according to the AAMC's Report on Medical School Faculty Salaries, 2010-11.

In comparison, the 1,145 physicians working as basic science faculty saw their compensation rise 2.7% to $150,600. The 12,928 nonphysicians who have a doctorate and work as clinical faculty saw their average compensation grow 2.2% to $123,400.

National Faculty Education Initiative

Have you heard of the NFEI? Well, if you're not very connected in the world of certified CME, then you probably haven't.

The Alliance for CME and Society for Academic Continuing Medical Education (SACME), in collaboration with the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC), and endorsed by AHME, launched the National Faculty Education Initiative (NFEI). This program provides online training on the differences between Certified CME and Promotional Activities. Sound basic? Well, you may be surprised to know that many clinicians don't really understand all the rules and regulations concerning certified CME or promotional education.

If you'd like to learn more, then take a look at the website:
