There are a growing number of opportunities to provide consulting services for health information technology (health IT) and mobile health (mHealth) startup companies looking to make an impact in the world of health care. We know that the government is pushing billions of dollars towards health IT innovation and implementation. The use of electronic health records (EHRs) and computerized physician order entry (CPOE) systems is only the beginning. Doctors are using iPads and iPhones, but most are not using mobile devices to their fullest potential. Patients are also becoming empowered about their own health and they're using digital tools to quantify their biometrics. Plus, social media is becoming an integral part of health care and many organizations are looking for clinicians who understand and actively use social media.
