The Academy of Pharmaceutical Physicians and Investigators (APPI) has the following mission: To promote and advance excellence and professionalism in pharmaceutical medicine and clinical research.
Through the establishment of pharmaceutical medicine as a rigorous and demanding scientific and managerial discipline, The Academy of Pharmaceutical Physicians and Investigators (APPI) seeks to enhance the image of pharmaceutical physicians.
Pharmaceutical medicine is the discipline of medicine devoted to the discovery, research, development and the support of ethical promotion and safe use of pharmaceuticals, vaccines, medical devices and diagnostics.
A Pharmaceutical Physician is a physician who spends the majority of his/her professional time in matters related to pharmaceutical medicine.
APPI exists to serve its membership, and has an evolving program of meetings in response to expressed needs. APPI organizes scientific and educational activities on a variety of issues concerning pharmaceutical medicine. APPI establishes a collegial dialogue with other medical specialty groups, academics, societies and associations.
APPI also exists as a forum for members to express views and receive advice and support on improving the contribution of pharmaceutical medicine to the discovery, development, registration and marketing of innovative and useful medicines.
Membership Eligibility
All pharmaceutical physicians and all physicians in good standing (M.D., D.O., M.B.B.S, or equivalent degree) who, in addition to their other professional work, devote a substantial portion of their time to 1) performing studies of drugs, biologics, devices, vaccines or diagnostics; 2) activities related to research, development or regulation of these products; or 3) teaching the subject of pharmaceutical medicine and who will uphold the policies of APPI and subscribe to its bylaws.
