Society of Physician Entrepreneurs (SOPE)

The other day, a physician asked me if I knew any physician entrepreneurs. Why yes! The Society of Physician Entrepreneurs (SOPE) is a great resource for physicians who have a strong interest in entrepreneurship. Here's a brief description about this organization:
ENTRI founded the Society of Physician Entrepreneurs , formerly the ENTRIpreneurs Club, in 2008 with the express purpose of providing education and support to physician entrepreneurs; idea stage through funding. ENTRI provides administrative support to the Club which is led by a Steering Committee composed entirely of physicians. Physicians that are current members of a national medical society are eligible to join the Club. The Club does not charge membership fees. ENTRI will solicit support revenues for SoPE operations from advertisers and sponsors that are interested in making themselves known to physician entrepreneurs or providing general support for physician entrepreneurship. Our next meeting is scheduled for Sept 26th-29th , 2010 during the Annual Meeting of the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery in Boston. We have planned several seminars, courses, informal networking events and other educational offerings during the meeting. In addition, we have created links on Linkedin, Facebook and Twitter.
It's great to see organizations leverage the power of social media. I look forward to seeing Dr. Arlen Myers this summer at the Medical Fusion conference in San Diego, California.
