There are some interesting freelance medical writing projects listed on Elance. If you've never tried this freelance resource, you may wish to give it a try. Freelancing is a great way to "test the waters" and try something like medical writing.
Elance uses a bidding system and allows various freelancers/contract writers to bid on projects. If you're chosen for the job, then you'll have the opportunity to work out the logistical details with your client.
