The Director, Medical Affairs, will work with the Global Vice President Medical Affairs to provide overall leadership, direction, and management for the Medical Affairs organization within Cordis Corporation at Johnson & Johnson in the US. The individual in this position is a scientific expert for the use of Cordis products, and is knowledgeable in interventional cardiology and endovascular therapy.

This position has leadership responsibility for ensuring that clinical aspects of US marketing strategies are scientifically sound, meet business and customer needs, and are conducted in compliance with appropriate safety, environmental, financial, legal, health care policies, and regulatory requirements. He/she is also responsible for development and implementation of policies and SOPs to ensure that all Medical Affairs-supported research is scientifically sound and rigorous, and conducted in accordance with Health Care Compliance (HCC) guidelines.
The Director, Medical Affairs will lead and manage the Medical Affairs team according to J&J development and management practices. Provide line management leadership to the US Manager of Medical Information, Manager of Medical Communication and Manager Medical Science Liaisons. Develop and maintain relationship with Key Opinion Leaders, especially vascular surgeons and interventional radiologists. Develop and maintain relationship with US Scientific and Medical Societies in interventional cardiology, radiology and vascular surgery. Working with the Global Director, Professional Education and EMEA Professional Education Manager to develop Prof Ed according to high scientific standards. Working with the US Director of Marketing to provide the scientific support of endovascular and cardiology products. Provide scientific and medical support to the Health Economics and Reimbursement department. Oversee the provision of scientific and medical information to internal and external customers to ensure that they are produced according to Johnson and Johnson's compliance practices.

Qualifications

A BA or BS in a health related or biological discipline is required. An MS, PhD, MD is preferred. A minimum of 5 years experience in device or pharmaceutical industry, preferably in Clinical Research or Medical Affairs is required. Management experience including supervision of direct reports is required. Thorough understanding of clinical trial design, statistics and regulatory processes are required. The position will require US and international travel up to 25%. Excellent written, presentation, and verbal English communication skills are required.
