Doximity Launches ExpertFinder to Match Clinical Need with Clinical Experts

Physician network signs major partners guaranteeing minimum honoraria of $250/hour for members who opt-in to research interviews

San Mateo, Calif. (December 19, 2011)—Doximity, the largest professional network for physicians, announced today it has partnered with several expert network firms to power their medical expert searches. These firms are the largest in the industry and collectively paid over $100 million in honoraria to physicians last year. Using Doximity’s new ExpertFinder service, they can instantly search detailed CVs of over 30,000 physician experts.

For physicians, ExpertFinder provides an easy way to tap into the billion-dollar physician research, second-opinion, and legal consultant markets through a single service. And because of its size, Doximity can guarantee a simpler setup process, fast payment, and minimum honoraria of $250 per hour for its members (although higher thresholds can be set up individually). Of course, Doximity members can also opt-out at any time.

ExpertFinder automatically integrates data from PubMed, and other public databases into physicians’ profiles. Doximity members can then fine-tune their profiles to reflect past and current academic positions, publications, lectures, awards, and clinical interests.

“Medical market research is not only vital to the development of new technologies and better healthcare practices, but it also provides ancillary income for physicians who want to share their expertise,” said Jeff Tangney, Doximity founder and CEO. “ExpertFinder is making it much easier to connect researchers with the right physicians who can offer the most insightful feedback.”

Physician participation in ExpertFinder is included as part of a free membership in the Doximity network, which provides a HIPAA-secure communication platform for doctors to connect and collaborate with their peers. Research firms can subscribe to the ExpertFinder service on a monthly or annual basis.
